You Are Now Reading My WordPress Blog

In the next couple of days, I’ll post the steps I followed to move from Blogger to Wordpress, including importing Blogger posts and Haloscan comments. I haven’t yet fixed up all the permalinks, so some links to my blog may be broken.

I chose Fredrik Fahlstad’s fspring theme for now, because the orange continues stylistically with my old design and because the banner image is cool. However, the text is a bit too light and small; it makes for difficult reading on a Mac, I think. I’d like to do a three column layout too. So I’ll probably modify it soon or switch to an entirely different theme.

So, welcome! I hope to be back to more regular posting now that I’ve got the bulk of this switch completed.

hey Anne, welcome to Wordpress World :)
I like your new theme. Did you come across other good ones in your search? (or a good place to find good ones?)

I have to say, I find it pretty difficult to find Wordpress themes that I’d consider using myself (consequently I have one that *everyone* uses… and I’m not entirely happy with it).

I see you’ve lost ‘preview comments’ in the move… that’s the other thing I’m looking for in a Wordpress theme/plugin (*lots* of people ask for it!)

Hi Leisa, nice to see you here.

I guess I need to figure out how to have “remember personal information” for commenting, since it doesn’t even know who I am as I leave this comment. Yeah, I wish I had comment preview too. Maybe I’ll try to write a plugin for that if it doesn’t exist.

I liked all of Fredrik Fahlstad’s themes. I just browsed the wordpress theme browser to find this one. I’m sure you’ve looked at that.

I like the theme but the font is definitely too small for my tired old eyes. Perhaps if it were a little darker?

Yes, Dad, I’m going to fix it, make it bigger and darker. It’s hard to read for me too.

I like it! The orange on grey is hard to read, but the header is nice and the grey looks good. Like the comment boxes.

Yeah, I definitely need to make the body text more readable. Perhaps after I get the flaky comment error fixed and the Blogger permalinks handled.
