[...] I don’t know that you’ll see me at any more conferences this year. Here’s what I’m looking forward to: continuing to nurture Web Worker Daily to its full potential, visiting Volcano National Park on the Big Island in June, making our now-annual trek to Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park in July when I’ll look for lakes instead of climbing mountains, writing a book, welcoming and making our Paraguayan au pair feel at home, taking up painting again, learning to play guitar like that guy from the Foo Fighters, and cherishing people like Stowe who inspire and stretch me, even if they might shake their heads at how I live my life and pursue my career.
[...] Part of the promise of Work 2.0 is living anywhere you want yet still working with whom you want to work on the projects you want to work on at the times that you can work. We wish keenly for that aspect of Work 2.0 in Colorado, a place you choose for lifestyle not because it offers a wealth of career opportunities. People choose to live in Colorado for the mountains, for the blue skies, for lakes, for family, but not usually for career. People choose to live in Denver or Boulder or Durango and then figure out a way to economically survive. [...]

Thanks, Tim. It's great to be back. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I started up again.

See you on the journey!

[...] I came across this fantastic essay titled Climbing Mountains or Looking for Lakes that resonated with me quite a bit: I’m a lake seeker, not a mountain climber. I’m looking for beauty and satisfaction, not prestige and achievement. It’s the same in all aspects of my life, like blogging. I blog for expression, connection, and conversation, not to break into the Technorati Top 100 and not to make money. I don’t look at my hit counts or subscriber numbers, except when I can’t avoid them or when I just can’t help myself. It’s not that I’m not competitive and it’s not that those things aren’t important and useful in some contexts. It’s that I’m temperamentally wired to look for what’s beautiful, peaceful, and comforting in the world. Paying attention to that other stuff makes me unhappy. [...]

[...] OK, so I’ll admit Anne’s writing is sometimes “off-topic” to what I typically address; however, Anne Zelenka is one of the finest writers in the blogosphere.
Very well said. Thank you for providing a refreshing blog, most of which I have been finding lately far too earnest, and trying too hard to impress and be clever. I think you are, yourself, a lake in the blog world.
One other comment, if I may. Don't forget to go up close to those lily pads and look deeply for a while (with your kids, of course). You'll see surprising structure and activity and new ideas. But I'm sure you know that.

Yes, I'm still planning to go to CSS and looking forward to it. Great content, great community, and a very cool location. You should definitely go - drop me a line if you decide to!
