so sad to hear that Sally is gone. She was a very lovely dog. It is amazing the impact that a loved pet has on your life, isn’t it? I remember when I lost our cat, Patrick, who we’d had for 13yrs, for a long time (and perhaps even today), I see him out of the corner of my eye - it’s kind of sad and kind of nice at the same time.

I’m so sorry for your loss. We had to say goodbye to our 14-year-old mutt, and my husband is still sobbing about him. Just yesterday we signed the adoption papers on a new dog, which I’m hoping will bring both dog and husband to a better place.

My husband worked through his grief in part by blogging about Woody and in part by making a video collage of photos of Woody throughout his life. The video still makes me bawl by the end of it, but I can’t help but smile a lot, too.

Thanks for the condolences. I had no idea this was going to be so painful and that Sally’s passing would leave such a hole in my life.

I’m sure we’ll get another dog, but not for many months.

Peter, that’s a good idea — I’m going to think about making a page for Sally.

I’m so sorry. We recently added a dog to our family. I never imagined how much they added to the family dynamic. Maybe one day there’ll be room in your family and hearts for another.

Sorry to hear about your loss. We lost our dog Max in December and I know it’s a hard thing to go through. We made a page about him at http://www.saint-andre.com/family/max.html and perhaps doing something like that would help you, too.
